The “2 Books and 2 Cups” Model: Explaining Enuda’s Work in a Fun Way
Published on: Jan 12, 2022

Here at Enuda, we have multiple areas of interest (we just can’t help it, we love learning), we’ve been trying to find a way to present exactly what we’re doing, and why we’re doing it so well and efficiently, in an understandable and maybe even fun way.

Now, we know exactly how to tell you that. Here it is.

Enuda’s “2 books and 2 cups” Model

The interesting thing about topics like IIoT, MES etc. is that large parts of our clients’ companies (meaning, a lot of employees, even on the plant floor) are confused about what everything means.

That’s why we came up with a super fun way of explaining what we do in a very understandable manner (we’ve tested this with a few of our clients, and they loved the explanation).

In a nutshell, this is what we do:

Yeah, this isn’t telling you anything yet. But as with many things in life, a simple, otherwise uninteresting representation can hide an excellent story.

Here, it’ll make more sense once you see this:

Let’s take it step-by-step, shall we?

IIoT

It’s the infrastructure – your data sources are connected, talking to each other, and allowing you to bring data from different data sources in one place, using one platform, accessible anytime, anywhere, on any device.
Think of IIoT as the rails that a train runs on, ey?

It’s the foundation on top of which a whole plethora of possibilities can be added, but the main goal is this: flow data seamlessly throughout the organisation.

SCADA solutions

Ah, yes, the good ol’ SCADA. Well, not old… that’s the whole point.

Once the IIoT infrastructure is set up, your new SCADA and the functionalities added to it will take a lot of tedious tasks off of your shoulders.

The SCADA will no longer live isolated on an island on your plant floor, it won’t be utterly ugly, and it’ll talk to all the data sources it has to, removing the need to run around on your plant floor, getting data out of your systems manually and throwing it on a Spreadsheet that will soon be forgotten.

If you want a good example of what’s possible, check out the Logbook case study.

MES Solutions

One of the most sought-after solutions in the industrial world, the MES solutions that will be created on top of the IIoT infrastructure (this, like the SCADA, is the train that will run on the rails, if you will) will save you a lot of time, effort, and resources.

From having one system that handles all your day-to-day data to creating insightful reports in minutes based on that data, you’ll have a solution that does what you want.

They’re automated, powerful, functionality-rich, and they can have a very understandable and eye-pleasing presentation.

EnuData

Finally, this is the SUPER fun part (well, we like all the other ones too, but this will surely be the most interesting to YOU).

The EnuData solution is the business functionality that empowers you to take action. It can be either super simple or very complex, depending on your needs.

The core of the EnuData is data analytics. It’s all about making sense of your data to make smarter, data-driven business decisions.

Wrap-up

Essentially, this is the entire system that makes it possible for you to go from useless raw data to practical knowledge that empowers you to take the right action for your company. Whether you want it all or just parts of it, we’re here to make it happen.

This is the digital transformation everyone knows about, and we managed to explain it using 2 books and 2 cups. Talk about making things simple, ey?

Well, the explanation is simple. But, of course, it’s merely the beginning. There’s another crucial aspect of our work: how we go about it. This leads us to our next point.

Price and risk are deciding factors

We see this pattern a lot with our clients: money and risk take the lead when it comes to making decisions about Ignition and working with (Premier) Ignition Integrators like yours truly.

Companies want these solutions. They want to move forward with new technology. But there are so many hoops they have to go through, mainly related to money and risk. We realised we had to keep these 2 factors in mind to serve our clients best.

That’s why Enuda’s way of working is heavily focused on efficiency.

The agile principles, combined with the knowledge and experience we’ve gained over the years in building SCADA, MES, and IIoT solutions, enable us to successfully complete projects in which risks are kept to a minimum. We’re constantly learning and developing more and more solid processes and standards for doing the job our clients want.

And on top of that, we just care. There’s no way around that – we develop relationships with our clients and we genuinely care about their ROI. We’re all humans, after all, trying to do something good with our resources. Let’s make it a win-win while we’re at it.
